After finishing the 2013 season undefeated, and capturing their second straight MCAC title, the Providence Pilots wanted to pick up exactly where they left off last season – in the win column.
Jessica Gzebb was a big piece of Providence’s success last year, and after her contribution to the Pilots 2-0 record after Week 2, it appears she’s picking up exactly where she left off as well.
This past weekend, the second-year Gzebb finished with two goals and three assists as the Pilots cruised to a 4-0 victory against CMU, and scraped out a hard-fought 2-1 win against Brandon University. Despite the pair of goals, head coach Dante Calla credited her passing for her success on the pitch.
“Jessica was vital to our ability to move the ball and create scoring options,” says Calla. “She’s one of the best passers we’ve ever seen at Providence, and her intelligence on the field is unmatched. Jessica will continue to be a big influence for the team this season”
The Pilots have a big weekend ahead of them as they have two games on tap, including a matchup against the undefeated Red River Rebels at home. This Providence team has a lot of firepower on it, but don’t be surprised if it’s once again it is Jessica Gzebb who sparks things up for the Pilots offense this weekend.
