Ordonez has been a force since she joined the team in December, acting as Red River’s number one scoring option in that time. If their undefeated record wasn’t enough to show you that this is a successful gameplan, Ordonez also leads the league in scoring by a relatively wide margin, and doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon.
With 14 points in the Rebels Week 21 win against Providence, and 19 points and 7 steals in their win against CMU, Ordonez is peaking at the perfect time with just one week of games left before the Final Fours.
“After committing to our team in December and figuring out our offence, Cassy has shown why she’s without a doubt the best pure scorer in MCAC,” says head coach Jaenas Pangilinan. “She is the perfect fit as the Rebels point guard in our run and gun offence.”’
That’s high praise from her head coach, and the Rebels are hoping that he’s right, as we’re just two weeks away from the Final Fours. Red River’s final regular season game is against Providence on Saturday at 6 p.m.
