Some players just have it, and in the case of Providence forward Kate Osadchuk, the “it” is her ability to come through in the clutch.
Last season, she won the Final 4’s MVP, and the Player of the Game during the Championship match. This year, she notched two goals in each of her playoff games, won the Player of the Game in the finals, and was a huge reason the Providence Pilots are now back-to-back MCAC Women’s Soccer Champions.
It was quite the few days for Osadchuk and it just keeps on giving, as she is also this week’s MCAC Athlete of the Week.
“Kate is such an athlete that whenever she gets near the box, she is a legitimate threat,” says head coach Giancarlo Calla.
Her ability to score has been more and more evident as the season has gone on, as she finished the season fourth in the league in scoring, and first in the Final 4’s. Osadchuk’s specialty this weekend was the header, as both of her goals were perfectly placed in the back of the net, and provided some of the best highlights of the weekend.
With the dominant season that the Pilots had, it is only fitting that we recognize them after it’s all said and done. And with the way things ended this season, it’s only fitting that Kate Osadchuk would finish the year as the Athlete of the Week.
