With three teams left standing in women’s soccer, the stakes are raised even higher as they jockey for the top spot and a first round bye in the Soccer Championships.
In a huge Week 3 matchup between two undefeated teams, it was one goal that made the difference.
That goal came off the foot of Providence’s Brianna Plett, and with the 1-0 defeat of CMU, ensured at least a four-point lead in the standings for the Lady Freemen. For forward Plett, it was her second goal of the year, which puts her in a tie for the conference lead.
Plett, a first-year player with the Lady Freemen has played pivotal roles in both her team’s wins so far this season, as last year’s silver medalists are looking to make the jump to gold in 2012.
The 5’7” Plett is studying teaching english as a second language and calls Winnipeg, Manitoba her hometown.
