They weren’t a playoff team last year, but if Week 1 was any indication, CMU men’s soccer might do more than just make it in in 2012.
The opening day of conference soccer action saw a 2-1 Canadian Mennonite University victory over last year’s finalist Red River College. Behind the win was midfielder Jonah Langelotz, who scored both his team’s goals.
Langelotz, a player in his second year with the CMU men’s soccer team, scored goals in both halves to put his team ahead and then provide breathing room against Red River College.
His team, who finished 1-7 last year, are already off to a 1-0 start as they head into a rematch against the Rebels on Sept. 22 before taking on the touted Providence University College Freemen on Sept. 23.
20 years old, Langelotz is studying international development and is a graduate of Westgate Mennonite Collegiate.
