Three-time conference MVP Kampen goes pro

She’s built an impressive trophy case over three years in the MCAC, but for the 2012-13 season, former CMU hitter Evelyn Kampen will pack up her awards and play professionally in Germany.

Kampen is the most notable in a handful of players who will pursue their love of sports further in professional or CIS leagues this season. The three-time women’s volleyball MVP, she led her team to an undefeated regular season in 2011-12.

This fall, she will join club-side TV Eich Horn of Germany’s second Bundesliga.

“We’re extremely excited for Evelyn to have this opportunity to play volleyball overseas and take this next step in her volleyball career,” said CMU women’s volleyball coach Andrea Charbonneau.

“She’s a very talented player who will have lots to offer her club in both skill and leadership. CMU is proud of all her accomplishments and we will continue to follow her career in Germany.”

After graduating from River East Collegiate in Winnipeg, Kampen played two years in the CIS at Trinity Western before her three years in the MCAC at CMU.
