Chelsea Kwasnicki Named Week 6 Athlete of the Week

To put credit where credit is due, the overwhelming success of the University of Winnipeg Wesmen women’s soccer team has not just been at the foot of one or two players.

In Week 6, it was 5’3” striker Chelsea Kwasnicki who made the biggest impact, scoring three goals in two wins over Providence University College and Canadian Mennonite University. Two of those goals were in the Providence game, facing a team they would later meet again in the 2011 MCAC Soccer Championships final. With the two wins, the Wesmen ladies clinched the #1 seed in the conference and finished a perfect 8-0, following a 2010 season where they didn’t lose a game either.

19-year-old Kwasnicki, who is in her first year of Wesmen competition, is a second-year student and a graduate of River East Collegiate. When she’s not on the pitch, she coaches 9-year-old girls soccer.
