Rodger Toews Named Week 2 Athlete of the Week

In Week 1, the Canadian Mennonite University women earned the school’s first MCAC soccer win since 2009. In Week 2, centre Rodger Toews and the CMU men followed suit, blanking the University of Saint-Boniface 5-0 at Winnipeg Soccer Complex.

Toews, a first-year player who grew up and went to high school in Paraguay, scored three goals in September 17’s match with CMU, earning his first goal in the 14th minute and capping a hat trick in the 64th minute with a strong kick from the top of the box.

The CMU men went 0-6 this year and started the 2011 season with the loss. – John Gaudes
