Wesmen Add College Basketball Teams to MCAC

The University of Winnipeg is pleased to announce the addition of College basketball to its list of competitive sports programs. The men’s and women’s College Wesmen Basketball Teams will begin play in the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conferences (MCAC) this September.

The University of Winnipeg previously had a Men’s Basketball Program in the MCAC for two years from 2006-2008. These teams were coached by the likes of Wesmen Alums Luc Buller and Vic Pruden. The Men’s and Women’s Basketball Teams join the recently announced Soccer Programs in the MCAC for September 2010.

”It is exciting to be back in the MCAC in basketball. I see it as the one missing piece of the puzzle of having a natural progression of athletes at all levels from Jr. Wesmen to Collegiate to College to the Varsity Wesmen”, said University of Winnipeg Athletic Director Doran Reid.
