Congratulations to Josh Goossen, outside hitter for the @rrcrebels, who is the male athlete of the week. •
The UofM Bisons transfer had “the most dominant performance” Rebels’ head coach Lindsey Habib has seen in his two seasons, connecting on 56 kills with a .384 hitting efficiency in back-to-back 3-0 sweeps over the ACC Cougars.
•
"Josh has had a very strong year leading the conference in kills,” says Habib. “He has dominated right from the start, and this weekend was his most impressive performance – he took it to another level.”
•
The Rebels will host the Providence Pilots (7-8) in their last game of the season this weekend after missing out on the playoffs by just two games. This may be Goossen’s final game with the Rebels as well, as he is set to graduate from the creative communications program this June.
Congratulations to Blaire De La Mare, right side for the @cougarsacc women’s volleyball team, who is the female athlete of the week.

The Dauphin, Manitoba native was an offensive threat in the Cougars 3-0 sweep of the Rebels (6-9) this past Saturday. She had eight total kills (8/11) with no errors, while stepping into the middle blocker role rather than her typical right-side position.
•
“Blaire has been one of the hardest working players all year,” says head coach Jeff Maxwell. “She has played every offensive position for us and it was great to see her have her best game of the season when we needed it most.”

The Cougars (6-10) win over the Rebels helped them clinch the last playoff spot in the conference. With a bye this weekend, ACC will get back on the court in the women’s volleyball Final Four on Saturday, February 23 in Providence’s Jubilee Gymnasium.
